Ok so here's my sob story, running gentoo 2004.R3 on an Athlon XP, had no problems during install, booting with grub. I can emerge small packages no problem, but as soon as I try emerge something bigish eg: Links, emerge unpacks the sources fine and starts compiling, then after bout 30mins the screen clears and has about 3 lines of code in a random place on the screen, and the keyboard lights flash (Kernel Panic) I've tried all the suggested sollutions on gentoo forums but still have the same problem crying.gif

Can anyone help me?

Ran memtest86+ a few more times didn't get any errors, tried different ram for arguments sake, but still same problem. Emerged ccache, just helped it get to the problem quicker...

What i did notice though, is that if I delete everything in the temporary directories, it goes on to compile about 45mins longer than it would before...
