JonLatane writes "Without a doubt, Gentoo has set itself apart from every other distro out there. Because it's source-based, it's notorious for its speed. Because of emerge, it's notorious for being simple to maintain. And because of its "install system" (if it can be called that), it's notorious for scaring off potential users before they even get to try it. Well, that's all going to change, because there is a graphical Gentoo installer in the works. It can run with a dialog frontend that bears a striking similarity to Ubuntu, or for faster systems a GTK+ frontend is available."

I still prefer the command line install but anyway...

Me too. No longer do I fear a Gentoo install.
But now I feel Sorry for all the Gentoo 1337, because now they'll have loads of n00b questions.

LOL @ their FAQ:

QUOTE
Is the installer done?

No, it will be done when it's done.

When will the installer be done?

See question 3.

I was wondering when they were going to make a grafical installer for gentoo. Bad idea in my opinion, sure it will be allot easyer for begginers to install, but then what? If you have a problem or need to manually re-configure something then your screwed because you have no idea what went on in the background during the install :\
