Moby Optical Glass Mouse Pads(S-721, S-722, S-775 and S-779)
IntroductionBriefly looking at something totally different today. No overclocking involved
The product is the Moby Optical Glass Mouse Pad.
The Pad
There are two sizes basically. The smaller ones come packaged as above to prevent them from chipping and the larger ones come housed in Styrofoam.

To ensure the proper contact between the pad and the mouse these instructions need to be followed.

There are two types of finishes as well. Either black (S-722) or clear glass (S-721) with a silver backing.
The larger ones also come with two finishes except this clear one (the S-775) does not have the silver backing. The black one is the S-779.

The large clear one is a Double Face Optical Pad. The one surface has a “Rough sand ripple (Low sensitivity)” which is suitable for gaming or when you need to move the mouse rapidly.
The other surface is an “Exquisite sand ripple (High sensitivity) one. It is suitable for high accuracy work like commercial drawing, as per the packaging.
The smaller ones and the large black ones all have little feet and sit nicely on the desktop. The large Double Sided one though did not have the best finishing on the corners stand offs and was a bit lopsided.
PerformanceWell when my mate saw the pads he offered to give one (S-722) a test drive and ended up writing a great little write up on it. So let’s hand over the microphone to Graham.
Really good looking mouse pad.
It has great little rubber, gel-like feet which stabalise it even on not-so-flat surfaces. No rocking motion and it sticks nicely to the surface it rests on.
Inside the pack you get 8 additional Teflon "runners" for your mouse. 4 Round and 4 oval sticky pads - along with an alcohol wipe to clean your current slidy-pad thingies.
The little Teflon pads seem to be necessary as it would seem that without them, your mouse's feet would soon be worn out on the almost smooth glass surface.
The pad has a very fine texture which provides very accurate mouse movement for my optical, as well as the ball mouse I tried out on it.
The ball mouse seems to get extra grip that would provide accurate movement for even those difficult/dirty ball mice.
Only negative would have to be the cold surface. It's winter here currently, so the cold glass surface is very apparent to the naked hand.
Over all, it's cold to the touch, but it looks cool and works very well. Thanks Graham
ConclusionWell not much more I can say on this one. Gave it a try myself and as mentioned above the surface can be a bit cold if it’s winter. Also you need to take precaution against chipping the pad when moving it around. Glass might not be everyone’s first choice when looking at a mouse pad, but you certainly won’t find a smoother surface than this.
